Leave the Hatred on the Ground
Composed by Melanie Bradley

(Verse 1)
Got your shoulders up, and your head held high,
With a mean-spirited joke, and a cruel, cold eye.
You push and you shove, and you laugh when they get small,
You’re the king of the hallway, a giant in the school.
You think you’ve got the power, you think you’ve won the fight,
But all you’ve got is darkness, in your mean and lonely night.
You think the fear you’re causing is a victory you’ve won,
But all the world is watching, and your game has just begun.
(Chorus)
Hey, don’t be proud of being a bully!
Don’t be proud of making others small!
The only thing that’s strong is a kind heart,
And the strength to stand up tall!
So leave all of that hatred on the ground,
And make a brand new song, with a brand new sound!
Yeah, don’t be proud of being a bully!
‘Cause a real win is being kind to all!
(Verse 2)
You see me in the classroom, a quiet little thing,
You think I’m weak and small, and that I’ve lost my sting.
You say your little words, and you laugh and you just stare,
But all you see is bravery, and a promise in the air.
Yeah, I’ve been pushed and shoved, and I’ve been made to fall,
But every single moment is a promise to stand tall!
You’ll never break my spirit, you’ll never break my soul,
[talk] you’ll NEVER break me!!
[sing]
‘Cause I’m a warrior, and I’m here, and I’m a person that is whole!
(Bridge)
We can all stand together, with a strong and steady hand,
[talk] we can stand together.
[sing] And make a brand new promise in this very time and land.
And if you see a bully, don’t you ever turn away,
Just a little kindness can change a person’s day!
So stand up, speak out, and make a brand new song,
And let’s make all the bullies realize that they are wrong!
(Outro)
Yeah, stand up, speak out!
Make a brand new song!
It’s okay to be strong!
And kind to all!
