The Red and Blue Divide
Composed by Melanie Bradley
(Verse 1)
The news is on, a never-ending feed,
Of angry headlines planting bitter seeds.
The comments bleed with venom, a digital war,
And nobody remembers what we’re fighting for.
Yeah, the lines are drawn, and the flags are flying high,
And all I see are empty, hateful, empty lies.
You stand so tall, you stand so proud and tough,
But I’m just so damn tired of all this stuff.
(Chorus)
‘Cause we’re divided, and we’re falling down,
A hollow, lonely echo in this troubled town.
Divided we fall, a promise we all made,
A future lost in sorrow, and a heart that’s so afraid.
Yeah, divided we fall, and our world is torn apart,
A broken, sad reminder, of a quiet, beating heart.
(Verse 2)
Hey you used to be my friend,
We used to talk for hours, ’til the very, very end.
Now all I hear is screaming, a constant, broken sound,
And all I see is hatred on this broken, lonely ground.
You’re yelling at a stranger, you’re yelling at the screen,
But all I see is silence in the space that stands between.
Yeah, all I see is sorrow, and a river of a pain,
And I’m just so damn tired of all this fucking rain!
(Bridge)
Yeah, I know it’s hard, I know it’s hard to try,
I know it’s hard to look up at the sky.
But if you just reach out, if you just hold a hand,
We can all find a reason, in this broken, angry land.
Yeah, we can all find a reason, and a gentle, loving voice,
And for the first time, we can make a choice.
(Outro)
Yeah, divided we fall…
We fall…
We fall.
WE FALL!!
Don’t do this, don’t let political hatred make you speak hateful words about your friends, your neighbor, or another human being, what they believe is their choice, whether it’s red or blue, it is all their choice. Freedom is everyones choice, let that sink in for a MOMENT and stop the judgements!
