The Scars We Get

The sun came up this morning, a weight I couldn’t hold,
Another heavy chapter, a story getting old.
The road ahead is broken, the hills are hard and steep,
And all the promises I made are buried, oh so deep.
I’m just a tired soldier, fighting through the night,
But a little bit of morning still finds a way to light.

And I am grateful, for the breaking of the day,
For a breath that I can take, to wash the pain away.

Yeah, it’s all gonna get better, the sun is on its way.
I’ve been through the worst, and I am still here,
And every day is a brand new start, to wash away the fear.
