The Story Behind “Filtered Lies (Unfiltered Truth)”: Finding Strength in the Real Me

We live in a world that constantly pushes us to be “perfect.” Scroll through any social media feed, and you’re bombarded with curated highlights, flawless smiles, and endless messages of “good vibes only.” For a long time, I found myself caught in that trap. I was trying to present a version of myself that was always happy, always thriving, always having the “best life.”

But come on, the truth is, life isn’t always perfect. My mornings aren’t always sun-drenched and serene. My house isn’t always spotless. My emotions aren’t always positive. I rarely ever have energy. And trying to keep up that facade, that “filtered lie,” became utterly exhausting. It made me feel isolated, like my genuine struggles and quiet moments of sadness were something to hide, something that made me less than.

That feeling, that overwhelming pressure to conform to an impossible ideal, is what sparked “Filtered Lies (Unfiltered Truth).” This song is my anthem against toxic positivity and the constant need to present a flawless version of ourselves to the world. It’s my declaration that there’s immense power, beauty, and strength in vulnerability.

I wrote this song because I believe we all deserve to be seen, truly seen, with all our imperfections, our bad days, and our messy realities. It’s about rejecting the pressure to be anything other than our authentic selves. It’s about finding freedom in letting the tears fall, in admitting when we’re struggling, and in knowing that real connection comes from honesty, not from a perfectly curated image.

My hope for “Filtered Lies (Unfiltered Truth)” is that it resonates with anyone who has ever felt that pressure. I want it to be a reminder that your authentic, messy, beautiful self is more than enough. In fact, it’s everything. Let’s embrace our unfiltered truths together and find strength in being truly, unapologetically ourselves.
