The Sun Came Through the Blinds

Composed by Melanie Bradley

(Verse 1)
Woke up this morning, sun came through the blinds,
Left all the gray and worried thoughts behind.
Put on my favorite socks, the ones with stripes so bright,
And hummed a little tune, to fill my day with light.
The coffee’s brewing, smells just like a dream,
And nothing’s gonna burst my happy little seam.
I’m walking out the door with a smile upon my face,
Today’s a brand new chance to find a happy place.

(Chorus)

Oh-oh-oh, I’m singin’ for the good things, and the little things that feel so true!
Oh-oh-oh, I’m laughin’ for the bright parts, and the skies that are so blue!
‘Cause happiness is a choice you make, when you open up your mind,
So throw your hands up in the air, and leave the blues behind!
[Guitar solo, fast and happy]

(Verse 2)
The world gets loud, sometimes it feels a mess,
There’s traffic on the road, and a little bit of stress.
But I just turn the music up, and dance there in my seat,
And tapping on the wheel, to a brand new, happy beat.
It’s not about the problems, or the bad things that you find,
It’s about the way you choose to hold them in your mind.
So breathe it in and let it go, and know that you’re alive,
It’s the simplest way to get through, and really, really thrive!

(Bridge)
[Music slows down, a gentle, thoughtful melody]
The tough days happen, yes, I know it’s true,
A heavy heart, and skies that aren’t so blue.
But even on those days, a sunbeam will break through,
A tiny little promise, that it’s all gonna be new.

(Outro)
So lift your head!
Yeah, sing it loud!
Throw your hands up!
Sing it for the crowd!
‘Cause happiness is waiting…
Right here, right now…
Oh-oh-oh-oh, it’s all gonna be…
Alright!
